I am ending up with a super long form and it would look better and work better if I could make columns. Is that possible?

This would need to be done by modifying the code in an external editor.

How do I make my text go across the page rather than in a single column? I want to add a disclaimer without a check box but it's putting it a long column on the left rather than across the page.

You're best off adding this in an external HTML editor.
